Job summary

IMC Trading's Platform Engineering team in Chicago seeks a versatile Systems Engineer to optimize our developer services infrastructure, including GitLab, Nexus, TeamCity/Jenkins, and observability tooling across data centers and AWS.

You will work with a global, experienced team to improve reliability, enable 24/7 operations, and build automation using AI to reduce toil, while supporting trading and research teams across IMC's offices.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of work experience in SRE, platform, DevOps or similar.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong programming in Python or Go; shell scripting is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix systems.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, TeamCity).
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
• Understanding of security principles and secrets management.
• Self-starter with ability to collaborate across teams.
• Strong communication across diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Optimize and enhance reliability, scalability, and performance of dev services infrastructure.
• Administer source control, CI systems, build agents, artifacts, metrics, logging, and observability tools.
• Oversee systems across data centers and AWS, on‑prem and cloud.
• Drive operational excellence with runbooks, failover, and capacity planning.
• Diagnose production incidents and support 24/7 operations with regional peers.
• Help build on‑call and paging practices for 24/7 markets.
• Identify bottlenecks and automate performance improvements using AI.
• Support new platform services and cross‑functional collaboration with development teams.
