Job summary

Our client in Santa Clara, CA is seeking a System Engineer to support next-generation sequencing and sample preparation platforms. The role involves troubleshooting hardware, software, and assay levels in a fast-paced lab environment.

Responsibilities include failure analysis, experiments, validation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to improve instrument reliability. Proficiency with JMP or R for data analysis is preferred, along with strong documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (Bioengineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent).
• 1–2+ years troubleshooting complex systems or lab instrumentation.
• Experience with microfluidics, liquid handlers, diagnostic systems, or NGS platforms preferred.
• Knowledge of sequencing methodologies is a plus.
• Experience with JMP and R for data analysis; Python preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot sequencing and sample prep systems at hardware, software, and assay levels.
• Perform failure analysis, root cause investigations, and defect resolution.
• Execute experiments, testing, and validation activities.
• Support system reliability, performance improvements, and instrument development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and implement solutions.
• Analyze data using JMP or R.
