Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Systems Engineer to lead the Human Landing System development, guiding requirements decomposition, verification strategies, and safety analyses for a lunar lander program.

You will coordinate across design IPTs, own traceability and verification closure, drive plan development, and represent the program at reviews while facilitating cross-site collaboration.

This role requires a strong ownership mindset and the ability to drive technical plans to closure with minimal oversight.

Job description


  • Define Blue Origin’s Human Landing System, a lunar lander carrying astronauts to the Moon’s surface and returning them safely to Orion

  • Own requirements decomposition, allocation, and traceability for a complex, cross-cutting system area

  • Own verification requirements, methods, procedures, evidence, and closure

Requirements


  • B.S. in aerospace, systems, or a related engineering field; an advanced degree may substitute for a portion of the experience requirement

  • 5–8 years of experience solving systems-level engineering problems, with demonstrated work in requirements, verification, or system safety

  • Demonstrated ownership of a complex, cross-cutting technical area with minimal oversight

  • Working knowledge of interface management (ICDs/IRDs), requirements traceability and verification, and variance/deviation processes

  • Ability to set a technical plan and drive it to closure across design IPTs without direct authority

  • Proficiency with SE tooling (Jama, DOORS, Cameo, Windchill) and tool-driven workflows

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident/current Green Card holder, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

  • Technical assessment required during interviews

  • Travel expected up to 25% of the time
