Job summary

sweetgreen is seeking a Systems Engineer II for New Restaurant Openings in Los Angeles to lead the technical build-out of new and relocated restaurants. You will configure POS/QSR platforms, integrate systems, and automate processes to ensure a smooth go-live and stable post-launch operation.

You will collaborate with Store Design, Operations, and vendors, translating restaurant requirements into system configurations, scripting, and API tooling to reduce manual steps over time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 3–5+ years in systems engineering or technical implementation, preferably in restaurant or QSR tech.
• Hands-on configuration experience with POS and QSR platforms (PAR Brink, QSR Automation preferred; Toast/Aloha/Oracle Micros comparable).
• Ability to automate with scripting, REST APIs, and SQL; demonstrable reductions in manual effort.
• Knowledge of integration patterns, middleware, and debugging data flows across POS, payments, loyalty, inventory, and reporting.
• Experience delivering against fixed deadlines with multiple concurrent workstreams; based in Los Angeles and willing to travel.

Responsibilities

• Execute the technical build-out for new openings from requirements to go-live and post-launch stabilization with third-party vendors.
• Configure POS and QSR platforms, including menus, pricing, tenders, modifiers, and store-level settings; stage back-end systems for integration.
• Validate technical readiness at each milestone and escalate risks early.
• Provide on-site and remote support during opening week; troubleshoot configuration and data flow issues across systems.
• Build automation through scripting, REST APIs, and bulk configuration tooling; perform testing with repeatable artifacts.
• Gather and document requirements from multiple partners and report readiness clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
