Job summary

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. is seeking a Systems Engineer II in Stoughton, MA to troubleshoot Tier III impairments and support high availability NextGen 9-1-1 VOIP networks. The role includes designing, implementing, and testing systems in Build lab environments, and providing 24x7 on-call coverage as needed.

Responsibilities cover SIP signaling, ALI applications, and documentation, with a focus on ISO compliance and future telecom services. Hybrid work is three days in-office.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with telephony protocols (e.g. SIP, SS7, ISDN, RFAI, i3 and CAMA).
• Experience supporting Sun Solaris Unix and Linux RedHat environments.
• NextGen 9-1-1 knowledge.
• Experience developing technical diagrams with Visio.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work overtime as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot Tier III service impairments and maintain accurate documentation of related trouble tickets.
• Provide support for high availability NextGen 9-1-1 VoIP telephony signaling & voice networks.
• Support for SIP-based monitoring infrastructure and network capture tools.
• Plan, design, and implement systems in a heterogeneous Build lab environments and perform acceptance testing of new products.
• Serve as a support for SIP signaling related to Next Gen 9-1-1 call delivery.
• Install, provision and support NextGen 9-1-1 call routing and delivery systems.
• Document system configurations and operational procedures.
• Participate in ISO-9000, TL-9000, and ISO-27001 compliance and documentation activities.
• Provide technical expertise for future Comtech services in telecommunications.
• Responsible for supporting hosted and in-network ALI products and services.
• Design, install, configure and support high availability ALI applications (five 9’s) for E9-1-1 and NextGen E9-1-1 call routing and delivery systems.
• Configure and maintain Automatic Location Information application systems on Windows and Linux platforms.
• Serve as an engineer for ALI applications and delivery/display of location information related to E9-1-1 calls to PSAPs.
• Stay apprised of technological trends in telecommunications.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotating basis.
• Work independently on projects assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to demonstrate Wireshark knowledge of SIP call flow and ALI location flow.
• Familiarity of BMC / Helix Remedy AR System
• Familiarity with NextGen 9-1-1
• Familiarity with NetScout tools and Wireshark.
• This is a Hybrid position, 3 days a week in the office.

Education:

• Associate’s degree or equivalent related experience and 2-3 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry.

The pay range reflects the expected base salary for this position. Final compensation will be based on role, level, skills, experience, and geographic location.
