Job summary

Rohde & Schwarz is seeking a Systems Engineer for Air Traffic Control (ATC) projects to work closely with the Business Development team. Located in Columbia, MD, you will create technical proposals and develop pre-sales system design based on customer requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant engineering degree and over 5 years of experience in deploying systems for critical infrastructures. We offer a range of $100K-$180K for total compensation, including flexibility in working hours and opportunities for professional growth.

Job description

As a global leader in Air Traffic Control (ATC), R&S secures communication from the controller's microphone through to the tower's antenna. Join us to learn about real systems deployed throughout global Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) and your part in advancing our products in the U.S. It's your chance to contribute directly to enabling reliable critical infrastructures used in everyday travel and play a crucial role in our international team. We are seeking a Systems Engineer for our ATC Projects Sales Support to work closely with our Business Development team to continue growing our North American technology systems ATC market. The work location for this position is Columbia, MD.

Responsibilities

• Create technical proposals, configurations and quotations.
• Serve as technical interface between customers, R&S product design team, and program leadership.
• Work closely with the product engineering teams based in Europe and North America.
• Develop pre-sales system design and documentation according to customer requirements for project initiation.
• Translate customer needs into requirements and competitive solutions maximizing R&S content.
• Design, integrate, and deploy voice communications systems / subsystems for R&S Air Traffic Controller projects to use for client demonstrations and tradeshows.
• Maintain demo room appearance, equipment, and update for client and interdepartmental presentation.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or relevant engineering degree.
• 5+ years of experience designing and deploying systems for critical infrastructure customers.
• Solid understanding and experience in IP networking/VoIP or similar.
• Comfortable promoting product and engineering services to potential clients, at trade shows or conferences, and peer departments.
• Proficient in systems engineering, product, and project development life cycle.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).
• Proficient in Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence).
• Familiarity with requirements management tools (Jira, Jama).
• Excellent technical writing skills.
• Execution-focused and takes ownership, driving tasks to completion.
• Proactive, highly organized, analytical and self-managed.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.
• US citizen capable of receiving a US Government security clearance.

Compensation & Benefits

The total compensation for this position is $100K-$180K. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job-related skills.
