Job summary

Rohde & Schwarz in Columbia, MD is seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer to join the Americas IT Infrastructure team. You will support our data center networks, apply 24/7 follow-the-sun operations, and document architectures and SOPs.

You will work with global teams, automate repeatable tasks using Ansible, and help maintain high availability and performance across regional infrastructure. US residency and green card are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in computer science, engineering, technology, or related field.
• 3+ years of 24/7 operational production infrastructure experience (on-call).
• 5+ years hands-on with switching/routing (LAN/WAN), Cisco/Arista, and SD-WAN solutions.
• Hands-on Ansible for automating network configurations.
• Knowledge of IPAM, Git, Python, Linux, and ITSM (ServiceNow).
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
• US residency and permanent work authorization (Green Card).

Responsibilities

• Provide primary support for Network Infrastructure in the Americas region.

The position will be based out of Columbia, MD and will deliver primary support in maintaining our Americas Data Center Network Infrastructure while providing follow-the-sun support to Rohde and Schwarz global IT infrastructure. Your tasks

• Primary support as IT Network Infrastructure engineer in maintaining Network & Network Security Infrastructure within R&S Americas region.
• Provide complete operational life-cycle and project based support for R&S Americas Infrastructure.
• Participate in 24/7 follow-the-sun operating model along with EMEA and Asian region teams to support R&S global infrastructure.
• Create and maintain SOPs, reference standards, architecture diagrams and other supporting documents as required.
• Continue to identify and implement regular operational activities that can be automated and or transitioned to Level 1 support after adequate documentation and knowledge transfer for swift issue resolution and better customer experience.
• As part of a larger team, maintain R&S Infrastructure that meets and beats the established OLAs on both availability and performance.
• Follow R&S established ITSM standards while resolving incidents, problems & service requests and while making changes to Infrastructure.
• Continuously assess the technology and service risk within Americas Infrastructure and make improvements to mitigate those risks.
• Work independently, within a team environment to achieve business objectives.
• Minimum Domestic and International travel would be required

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in computer science, engineering, technology or other pertinent area of study; or equivalent combination of education and related work experience
• Minimum 3 years' experience of 24/7 operational experience working on production infrastructure is required – on-call support
• Minimum 5 years of extensive hands-on experience in the administering & architecting the following technologies is required : Switching and Routing (LAN and WAN) protocols (VRF, EVPN, VXLAN, BGP, HSRP, LACP etc.); Network switches and routers - Cisco / Arista; Aruba Edge Connect/ Silverpeak -SDWAN solution(s); Wireless technology
• Must have hands-on experience in using Ansible playbooks to automate Network configurations and deployments
• Working knowledge and good understanding of these technology areas is required: IP Address Management (IPAM); GIT; Python scripting and Linux OS; ITSM – ServiceNow
• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills and experience handling simultaneous high-priority issues
• Working experience in independently handling tasks that are project based and operational
• Demonstrable experience in creating quality SOPs and architecture documents
• Experience in working in different time-zones & with global team would be a strong plus
• Good working knowledge of IT Service Management principles is required; ITIL certifications are preferred.
• Experience in dealing directly with business users/customers and excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

The total compensation for this position is $96K-$130K. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job-related skills.
