Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks a Systems Engineer with AFSIM expertise to support NASIC/NSIC missions. You will develop, test, and document simulations, collaborating with DoD stakeholders and engineers across teams.

The role emphasizes object‑oriented programming in C++/Python, agile practices with Jira, and delivering robust models. Domestic travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM with 2+ years experience; or MS with 0 years.
• Level 3 requires 5+ years or MS with 3+ years experience.
• U.S. Citizenship with active TS/SCI clearance and ability to maintain it.
• AFSIM familiarity as user or developer (preferred).
• Experience with object‑oriented programming (C++/Python).
• Experience in a team software/modeling environment.
• Strong written/verbal communication for technical docs.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in fast-paced settings.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and maintain models and simulations in the AFSIM framework.
• Design and implement AFSIM scenarios and plugins, including object detection.
• Collaborate with modeling, software, and DoD stakeholders to translate requirements into architectures.
• Use Python, C++, and related languages to extend AFSIM capabilities.
• Contribute to complex technical documentation communicating assumptions and results.
• Operate within an Agile team using Jira to plan and track work.
• Incorporate lessons learned and customer feedback to improve the environment.
• Communicate technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
