Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. is seeking a Systems Engineer focused on the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) to support NASIC/NSIC programs. You will develop simulations, design scenarios, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver mission-critical analyses.

The role requires strong C++/Python skills, AFSIM experience, and effective communication for technical documents. Travel up to 10% and a TS/SCI clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM field and 2+ years of experience; or MS with 0 years of experience.
• Clearance: U.S. Citizenship with active TS/SCI (ability to maintain).
• Experience with object-oriented programming (C++/Python).
• Experience with modeling/simulation tools and team software projects.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Familiarity with AFSIM and related M&S tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and maintain models and simulations in the AFSIM framework for mission-level analysis.
• Design and implement AFSIM scenarios and plugins, including object detection and system-of-systems behaviors.
• Collaborate with modeling, software, and DoD stakeholders to translate requirements into models and architectures.
• Validate, document models and results; communicate limitations and assumptions.
• Extend AFSIM capabilities using Python, C++, and interfacing tools; link data sources and visualization.
• Contribute to technical documentation and intel-based reports.
• Work in an Agile team using Jira to plan, track, and deliver incremental capabilities.
• Support continuous improvement of the modeling environment through lessons learned and feedback.
• Communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
