Job summary

Williams International is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our on-site team in Michigan. You will lead the systems engineering lifecycle for turbine-based propulsion systems, perform safety analyses, and coordinate with cross-functional teams and customers to ensure program success.

The role requires 5+ years in SE, a STEM degree, familiarity with industry standards, and the ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM required.
  • 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience.
  • Broad knowledge of turbine engine or airframe technology.
  • Knowledge of SE lifecycle and deriving requirements into actionable steps.
  • Experience with FMEA, FMECA or Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Familiarity with Electronics or Software systems.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and consensus-building.
  • Strong interpersonal negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with SAE ARP 4754/4761, DO-160/178/254 and MIL-STD equivalents.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain U.S. Government Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate and implement the SE process for turbine-based propulsion systems and interfacing aircraft systems.
  • Conduct system safety analyses including fault tree, FMEA/FMECA and reliability risk management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align with customer requirements and Williams practices.
  • Support design decisions for technical leadership and trace verification plans.
  • Define and track system, subsystem and component verification and validation.
  • Work with Program Management to liaise with customers throughout the project.
  • Produce timely customer-defined data packages at regular intervals.

The Opportunity

Williams International has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer to join our team.

This position is 100% on-site.

The Systems Engineer responsibilities include:

  • Integrate and implement the systems engineering process for turbine-based propulsion systems and the interfacing aircraft systems, including defining requirements, performing analyses, and tracking reliability, hazards and risk management for the lifecycle of the assigned program
  • Conduct system safety analysis including fault tree creation, system hazard analysis, FMEA and FMECA generation, reliability disciplines and failure investigations
  • Work with cross functional engineering teams to organize data and information in accordance customer requirements and Williams best practices
  • Substantiate and inform design decisions for technical leadership
  • Define and track system, subsystem and component verification and validation
  • Work closely with the Program Management team to collaborate with the customer throughout the project
  • Produce timely customer-defined data packages at regular intervals
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
  • 5+ years of technical experience within Systems Engineering
  • Broad technical knowledge base of turbine engine or airframe technology
  • Knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle, roles and functions, including deriving requirements into actionable steps
  • Experience with FMEA, FMECA or Fault Tree Analysis
  • Familiarity with Electronics or Software systems
  • Demonstrates ability as a team player to build consensus among peers and build effective relationships across the organization
  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills with effective negotiation and conflict-resolution experience
  • Demonstrates organizational skills and ability to produce a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Possesses written communication skills and proficiency in document preparation
  • Familiarity with commercial standards (SAE ARP 4754, SAE ARP 4761, DO-160, DO-178 and DO-254 certification) and the equivalent military standards (MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-882, etc.).
  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • Position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance, if needed. Candidates selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Desired Qualifications
  • Active US Security Clearance
  • Direct experience on US Air Force digital engineering programs
  • Proficiency with MBSE processes/principles/tools and Digital Transformation methodologies to enable application of these approaches across diverse products
  • Experience with MBSE and Engineering software tools
