Systems Engineer

Location

Huntsville, Alabama (3 days in office; 2 days remote)

Role Overview

An opportunity is available to combine technical skills with big-picture thinking to impact national security. This role involves understanding the customer’s environment and developing the right systems for their mission. As a Systems Engineer, you will lead the technical development and integration of complex systems, translating real-world needs into technical specifications to deliver customer‑focused engineering solutions. You will create, integrate, and apply interdisciplinary digital models of systems from concept through the product lifecycle in support of hypersonic testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply functional, working, and general industry knowledge to contribute to solutions for a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
• Work independently with some guidance and review or guide the activities of junior employees.
• Lead the technical development and integration of defense‑related systems.
• Create, integrate, and apply interdisciplinary digital models of systems throughout the product lifecycle.
• Conduct system‑level trade studies to identify and balance conflicting requirements.
• Oversee the delivery of complex aerospace hardware from concept to test.
• Support the facilities that allow for hypersonic testing, focusing on facility design or modification of test beds.
• Develop system engineering documentation and system documents.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.

Experience: 5+ years of experience with systems design, integration, and testing activities. Experience with design and gate processes, such as PDR, CDR, or FRR. A background in Aerospace or Mechanical environments is required.

Technical Skills: Experience with model‑based systems engineering, preferably with Cameo and SysML. Experience delivering complex aerospace hardware from concept to test.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with requirements derivation, definition, validation, and verification.
• Experience with a gated design review process.
• Knowledge of Systems Modeling Language (SysML) or Unified Modeling Language (UML).
• Knowledge of requirement management tools, such as DOORS or JAMA.
• Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
