Job summary

Global Technical Systems (GTS) seeks a Systems Engineer for on-site support to NSWCDD in Dahlgren, VA. The role focuses on prototype design, development, testing, evaluation, and integration of directed energy and RF systems, applying MBSE and systems engineering best practices.

Candidates should have BS in engineering, 5 years in electronics or EM systems, 3 years in directed energy or RF, US citizenship, and the ability to obtain a secret clearance.

Job description

Global Technical Systems (GTS) provides innovative, cost-effective, high-tech engineering products and product-based services encompassing latest generation software and hardware solutions and engineering services for defense, homeland security, and other critical Government interests. GTS products and services span a spectrum that includes: mission-critical combat systems processors; C4ISR; technology development including threat detection, biometric identification systems, and composite applications for munitions, armor and energy storage; avionics test systems; and lifecycle logistics support and repair.GTS will provide engineering support services to the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Integrated Engagement Systems specific to the High-Power Microwave (HPM) Weapons Systems Division (E50). Services include HPM prototype design and development as well as system testing and evaluation. We are in search of a Systems Engineer for this effort on-site.

General Description:

Provides systems engineering support including prototype design, development, testing, evaluation, and integration of directed energy prototypes. Designs and verifies performance of complex systems. Applies system, hardware and software knowledge to the design of new prototypes and the redesign / modification of existing systems. Performs analyses and trade studies and provides technical input to specifications that support system design and enhancement. Evaluates and recommends options and alternatives for systems. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support research and experimentation for directed energy systems including high-power microwave, laser, and pulsed power prototype systems.
• Provide design inputs to the development of directed energy prototype systems.

• Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

Work Experience Requirements:

5 years of experience in electronic or electromagnetic systems and 3 years of experience in directed energy, HPM, or RF specialized electronics. US Citizen, Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

Educational Requirements:

BS degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering scientific, or technical discipline.

Working Conditions:

This work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes, or equipment. • Ability to prepare technical information in support of presentations and technical discussions.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Understanding of systems engineering principles and model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
• Ability to work both independently and in highly collaborative teams.
• Ability to accurately articulate concepts, theories and system design attributes to technical team members.
• Experience with Systems Engineering software such as DOORS, CAMEO, or Innoslate.

The posted salary range represents the anticipated range for this position. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of job-related factors, including directly relevant experience, education, advanced degrees, specialized training, certifications, skills, military experience, and other applicable qualifications. Final compensation will also take into consideration internal equity, contract requirements, and business needs.
