Global Technical Systems (GTS) seeks a Mechanical Engineer to provide prototype design, development, testing, evaluation, and integration for directed energy prototype systems in support of NSWCDD. On-site work at Dahlgren, VA with collaboration across customers, engineers, and program managers.
The role requires a BS in engineering, 5 years in mechanical design/testing, 3 years in high-voltage or RF systems, and 3 years CAD proficiency (Inventor, Pro/E, Rhino, SolidWorks, ANSYS); U.S.
Global Technical Systems (GTS) provides innovative, cost-effective, high-tech engineering products and product-based services encompassing latest generation software and hardware solutions and engineering services for defense, homeland security, and other critical Government interests. GTS products and services span a spectrum that includes: mission-critical combat systems processors; C4ISR; technology development including threat detection, biometric identification systems, and composite applications for munitions, armor and energy storage; avionics test systems; and lifecycle logistics support and repair.GTS will provide engineering support services to the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Integrated Engagement Systems specific to the High-Power Microwave (HPM) Weapons Systems Division (E50). Services include HPM prototype design and development as well as system testing and evaluation. We are in search of a Mechanical Engineer for this effort on-site.
Provides mechanical engineering support including prototype design, development, testing, evaluation, and integration of directed energy prototypes. Designs and verifies performance of complex systems. Applies system, hardware and software knowledge, as applicable, to the design of new prototypes and the redesign / modification of existing systems. Performs analyses and trade studies and provides technical input to specifications that support system design and enhancement. Evaluates and recommends options and alternatives for systems. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
5 years of experience in the design, development, implementation, and testing of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery; and 3 years of experience in mechanical design and development for high-voltage systems or RF systems. 3 years of relevant experience in 3D computer Aided Design (CAD) software. Secret Security Clearance required.
BS degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering scientific, or technical discipline.

The posted salary range represents the anticipated range for this position. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of job-related factors, including directly relevant experience, education, advanced degrees, specialized training, certifications, skills, military experience, and other applicable qualifications. Final compensation will also take into consideration internal equity, contract requirements, and business needs.
