Job summary

nobrainer designs, builds, and maintains operational systems for founders and small teams. We’re seeking a contract systems builder to take over buildout and ongoing maintenance across our client systems.

This is a systems role, built from blueprints, keeping live systems healthy, and fixing what breaks. You’ll work with the Founder & Chief System Architect on client projects, eventually running the systems with clear rules for decisions, timing, and escalation.

Qualifications

• 2+ years building in Airtable at relational level (linked records, rollups, lookups, formulas, automations, interfaces).
• 2+ years hands-on experience with Zapier (multi-step logic, looping, error handling, webhooks).
• 1+ years building apps/portals in Zite.
• 1+ years building forms in Fillout.
• Available for overlapping working hours with US Eastern Time.

Responsibilities

• Build new tables, fields, automations, interfaces, and integrations from written blueprints.
• Translate when X happens to Y into working logic and test with real records.
• Write documentation for built systems and changes, with safe modification guidelines.
• Investigate, fix bugs, and maintain system reliability; monitor failing automations.

nobrainer designs, builds, and maintains operational systems for founders and small teams. I'm looking for a contract systems builder to take over buildout and maintenance across our client systems.

This is a systems role. You'll build from designed blueprints, keep live systems healthy, and fix what breaks. In the future, you may be responsible for client communications.

The work today is built mostly in Airtable, Zapier, Zite, and Fillout with automations, integrations, forms, and document generation layered on top. Most of it supports a handful of long-term retained clients who rely on these systems every day.

You'll work alongside the Founder & Chief System Architect on active client projects, learning how our systems are designed, built, and documented. Eventually, you're the person running them, with clear rules for what you decide, what waits, and when to elevate.

What you'll do

The work splits into two parts. Buildout is new work. Maintenance is keeping existing systems reliable.

Buildout

• Build new tables, fields, automations, interfaces, and integrations from a written blueprint
• Translate a defined "when X happens, Y should happen" into working logic, then test it against real records
• Write the documentation for what you built: what it does, what it touches, and how to change it safely
• Flag anything in a blueprint that won't hold up once you're in the build

Maintenance

• Investigate and fix bugs, find the root cause, and confirm the fix holds
• Make small adjustments that don't change how a system is shaped
• Watch for automations that fail quietly and catch them before a client does
• Keep the process architecture documentation current as systems change

Who you are

• Self-sufficient problem-solver
• Comfortable reading someone else's build and reasoning about dependencies before touching anything
• Calm with partial context. You'd rather pause and ask than push a fix through.
• Comfortable being the day-to-day contact for clients, including telling them something will wait

Required experience

Nice to have

• Airtable, Zite, or Zapier certification
• Prior work supporting client systems for an agency or consultancy

Logistics

• Type: Contract, remote
• Rate: $20 to $25 per hour (adjustable depending on experience)
• Start: November 2026
• Length: Through June 2027, with the option to continue after
