Job summary

Schneider Electric in Houston, TX is seeking a System Application Engineer specialized in building controls. You will lead programming, start-up, troubleshooting and commissioning of DDC building automation systems and coordinate with contractors, engineers and end-users.

Ideal candidates have 2-4 years experience, strong BACnet/Modbus/LON knowledge, and IP networking basics. Experience with Tridium Niagara or EcoStruxure Building Operation is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to lead programmer on medium to large projects.
  • Work independently with third parties (TAB, IT engineers, commissioning agents, vendors).
  • IP networking basics.
  • Configure BAS LAN switches, routers, controllers, gateways, firewalls.
  • Proficient with BACnet, Modbus, and LON networks.

Responsibilities

  • Programming, start-up, troubleshooting and commissioning of DDC building automation systems.
  • Configure, program, and customize control systems to meet project needs.
  • Create software programs and front-end graphics.
  • Commissioning on projects.
  • Analyze problems and resolve issues to ensure full system function.
  • Perform system diagnostics and recommend enhancements.
  • Coordinate customer training and complete closeout documents.
  • Provide technical support and direction to end-users and employees.

Position: System Application Engineer - Building Controls
Location: Houston, TX

This Application Engineer is independent and decisive. They are highly skilled andan expertbuilding automation systemprogrammer. They are passionate aboutdriving innovation in the field of building automation.

As an Application Engineer, a typical day for you might include:
  • Expertisein Tridium Niagara, Schneider ElectricEcostruxureBuilding operation system, Siemens Building automation system or Johnson Controls systems.
  • Experience providing high quality programming per specifications, standards, budgets, and schedules.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely with customers, contractors, engineers, and fellow team members
  • Working as part of a team that is responsible for the programming, start-up, troubleshooting and commissioning of DDC building automation systems.
  • Configuring, programming, and customizing control systems to meet project-specific needs.
  • Creation of software programs and front-end graphics.
  • Commissioning on projects.
  • Analyzing problems and resolving issues to ensure the complete system functions properly.
  • Performing system diagnostics and recommend enhancements to improve system performance and efficiency.
  • Coordinating customer training andcompletecloseout documents.
  • Providing technical support and direction to end-users and employees when applicable.
Qualifications
  • 2-4 years experience in a similar role
  • Ability to take the lead programmer role on medium to large projects
  • Can work independently with 3rd parties such as TAB, IT engineers, commissioning agents, and equipment vendors.
  • Able to identify and resolve discrepancies and anomalies in submittals and contract drawings.
  • Working knowledge of IP networking basics
  • Able to configure switches, routers, controllers, gateways, firewalls, etc. on a BAS LAN.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with setup and troubleshooting of BACnet, Modbus, and LON communication networks.

Who will you report to?

This employee typically works under daily supervision of a Project Manager and reports into an Engineering or Software Manager.

For this U.S. based position, the expected pay range is USD 68,000 - USD 102,000 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the pay range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
