System Administrator Role - Remote, Night Shift

GovCIO is seeking a highly skilled System Administrator to support the management and maintenance of the Veterans Affairs IT infrastructure. This is a night shift role involving troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues, ensuring optimal performance and security, and executing scheduled maintenance and upgrades. The candidate will collaborate with stakeholders, government leadership, and engineering teams to design, maintain, and optimize server environments in line with customer requirements. This position is fully remote.

Please note: The contract is awarded; however, the position remains unfunded until funding is released.

Responsibilities

1. Proactively monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and implement solutions to enhance reliability and security.
2. Oversee access controls, backups, and firewall management to ensure security compliance.
3. Administer network servers and technology tools, driving continuous improvement and scalability.
4. Configure user accounts and workstations to support organizational productivity.
5. Perform system upgrades, deploying new releases and tools to maintain cutting-edge technology standards.
6. Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations and policies for operational clarity and consistency.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related field with at least 12 years of relevant experience (preferably in application support or development).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Interpersonal skills to work effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewall configurations.
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.

Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
