Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Infrastructure Engineering Manager, this position supports the ITS-Infrastructure Engineering group and their interface with other campus systems and services. It provides analysis, modification, maintenance, installation, and design of AWS, Nutanix, VMWare, and workstation platforms and related services to support internal ITS staff and the user community. The role also maintains and supports assigned systems to ensure their availability, integrity, and reliability.

The lead collaborates with the director and managers to ensure service success and excellent customer service. Responsibilities include prioritizing and assigning daily work, handling escalations, and incident response.

Department Summary

Information Technology Services (ITS) is a dynamic team dedicated to helping Cal Poly achieve academic excellence through innovative technology solutions that align with strategic goals. Our team of over 170 professionals operates in a DevOps environment, shaping the university's technology landscape.

Key Qualifications

1. Ability to manage project timelines, coordinate resources and staff, and lead implementation efforts to achieve objectives.
2. Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure and platform services such as monitoring, configuration management (e.g., MS SCCM, Ansible), and identity and access management (IAM).
3. Proficiency with at least one cloud provider, such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or IBM Cloud.
4. Experience designing and deploying systems using CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline) in a large-scale enterprise DevOps environment.
5. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, or Azure Resource Manager.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience.
• Additional qualifying experience may substitute for up to two years of education on a year-for-year basis.

Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range: $98,000 - $115,000 per year

Classification Range: $61,896 - $152,760 per year
