Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. seeks a Systems Administrator Intermediate to support Army Intelligence missions at Fort Meade, MD.

The role focuses on securing enterprise systems, performing OS installations, backups, and system monitoring while collaborating with teammates and agency customers. You will lead routine software installations, troubleshoot complex issues, maintain documentation, and ensure data recoverability.

Qualifications

• Associate degree (may be waived based on overall experience).
• 7+ years of related experience (may be waived for candidates with strong systems administration proficiency).
• Advanced troubleshooting skills for IT systems and infrastructure; ability to analyze escalated tickets and provide feedback to management.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and support: perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages; schedule installations and upgrades per IT policies.
• Collaborate: troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware/software issues involving applications, OS, hardware, or network infrastructure with team members and customers.
• Drive: monitor and tune systems for optimal performance, ensure data recoverability via backups, and develop standard operating procedures.
• Utilize: conduct hardware/software audits, manage IT system infrastructure, and maintain documentation.
• Perform systems administration of desktop and server systems connected to networks, including account monitoring, security updates, and OS installations.
• Provide support for IT systems implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Ensure day-to-day operations, monitoring, and issue resolution for client/server/storage/network/mobile devices.
• Deliver Tier 1 and Tier 2 support, identify/diagnose/resolve issues, escalate as needed.
• Configure and manage operating systems (UNIX and Windows) and install/maintain software.
• Enhance performance by upgrades and optimized configurations.
• Support hardware problem resolution and deployment, assist in major issue resolution.
• Integrate new technologies into existing systems, manage transitions and migrations.
