IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.

Role Overview:

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration and operational management of Windows Server environments. Core duties include enterprise certificate lifecycle management, permissions and access control administration, limited account provisioning, Group Policy Object (GPO) configuration and maintenance, and end‑to‑end server build processes. The role also involves executing additional infrastructure tasks using a combination of native Microsoft technologies and approved third‑party tools. This position adheres to a standard 7.5‑hour workday and requires only minimal night and weekend participation.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are:

  • Technical Support
    Install, configure, and maintain operating system workstations and servers to support IT business requirements.
    Conduct software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered system software packages.
    Test, debug, and document system software upgrades and new releases, including some program design and coding.
    Support media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services.
    Conduct routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Project Management
    Schedule installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
    Develop and promote standard operating procedures.
  • Communication & Collaboration
    Liaise with different departments to gather requirements and ensure IT solutions meet business needs.
    Provide training and support to end-users on newly installed systems or software.
    Document and share best practices and troubleshooting steps with the team to ensure consistent support.
  • System Administration
    Monitor and adjust the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
    Ensure workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
    Ensure data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and archive operations.
    Responsible for software applications dealing with the overall operating system, such as sophisticated file maintenance routines, telecommunications networks, and computer accounting.
  • Planning & Budgeting
    Develop and maintain a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration.
    Code, test, debug, analyze, evaluate, and document system software.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours that may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

What You'll Need for Success:

Credentials:

  • a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Technology or related field and 1+ year of experience, or
  • an Associate's Degree in Computer Technology or related field and 3+ years of experience, or
  • at least 5+ years of experience applying the below, outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role.
  • Related certifications and coursework may be considered for education or experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of information technology system, including software and hardware
  • Considerable knowledge of software and hardware interactions with other components
  • Considerable knowledge of policies, standards, procedures, and techniques
  • Considerable knowledge in information technology equipment, operation, and capabilities
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of tools and utilities to perform the system work
  • Advanced knowledge in performance and tuning techniques
  • Ability to establish and maintain a cooperative relationship with others
  • Ability to assist others in problem resolutions and recommendations regarding system software performance and abilities
  • Advanced knowledge in the business objectives and goals to evaluate the software products’ effectiveness Effective communication skills.

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
