Qualifications

Knowledge of LDAP, DHCP, DNS; focus on security/compliance.

Responsibilities

Lead OS installation, configuration, monitoring, and support for VMware, storage, and appliance-based systems.
Provide expert-level end-user support during core hours and rotational on-call after hours and weekends.
Lead hardware/software change management procedures with the Change Advisory Board.
Oversee troubleshooting and coordinate vendor hardware repairs.
Analyze new server hardware/software requirements and devise deployment strategies.
Harden servers to security baselines, maintain patches, and support security/compliance needs.
Manage maintenance tasks and inventory for servers and software.
Develop and maintain standard procedures for recurring activities.
Lead backup/restore support and test annual restores; troubleshoot failed backups.
Assist end-users during escalations and coordinate patches.

Job description

Lead operating system installation, configuration, monitoring, and support for VMware, Storage, and appliance-based systems
Provide expert-level end-user support during core hours and rotational on-call support after core hours and on weekends
Lead hardware and software change management procedures, collaborating with the Change Advisory Board as necessary
Oversee troubleshooting and coordination of computer hardware repairs with vendors
Analyze new server hardware and software requirements, propose changes and upgrades, and devise and test deployment strategies
Harden servers to established security baselines, maintain patch levels, conduct compliance audits, and support Cyber Security Specialists during incident responses
Manage maintenance tasks and maintain inventory records for servers, related equipment, and software
Develop and maintain standard procedures for routine and recurring activities
Lead backup and restore support, monitor backup environment health, conduct annual restore tests, and troubleshoot failed backups including database backup and restore
Assist end-users during escalated incidents and coordinate vendor hardware and software upgrades and patches

Requirements

U.S. Citizen
Must be able to pass federal background investigation and obtain a Public Trust (Tier 4)
Extensive experience in a multi-platform computer center environment
Proficiency with VCenter, SAN Management, and iLO/iDRAC
Ability to quickly acquire, comprehend, and apply knowledge from technical manuals and SOPs
Expertise with VXRail, vSAN, Windows, Red Hat Linux, VMware, Microsoft Azure, HPE servers, Splunk or SolarWinds Orion, DataDomain backup appliances, Veritas NetBackup, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Azure Active Directory, Ping Identity, Corestreet HID appliances, OCSP authentication, RSA SecurID, ADFS, Microsoft Certificate Server, and Microsoft KMS
Knowledge of LDAP, DHCP, and DNS
Proficiency in Perl, PowerShell, Windows scripting, and standard shell scripts
Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Must be able to bend, stretch, squat, and kneel to move equipment and set up workstations
Must present acceptable identification for customer badging and site access, such as a REAL ID-compliant driver's license, U.S. Passport, or other approved GSA document
