Job Description
Seeking an experienced IT systems administrator to support classified lab environments that use Linux and Windows networked systems. The candidate should have expertise in setting up and managing Windows Servers and Workstations, including experience with Microsoft Windows Active Directory, Group Policy Management, and Exchange services.
A successful candidate will serve as a Windows Server lead, supporting internal customers by designing, implementing, and managing lab infrastructure to meet customer requirements.
In this Senior Systems Administrator role, you will:
- Work with facilities security staff to develop and apply system hardening procedures for classified use, adhering to NISPOM Chapter 8, JAFAN, and other customer standards.
- Document system configurations for new and existing systems. Experience with centralized authentication technologies such as LDAP and Active Directory domains supporting cross-platform clients (Windows/Linux) is desirable.
- Proactively maintain and develop Linux infrastructure to ensure 24/7 uptime.
- Engineer solutions for systems administration needs across projects and operations.
- Maintain best practices for managing systems and services across all environments.
- Perform fault analysis and logging for performance reporting.
- Monitor system performance and plan capacity proactively.
- Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware.
- Create and modify scripts or applications to automate tasks.
- Suggest improvements to enhance stability, security, efficiency, and scalability.
- Collaborate with teams to develop automation strategies and deployment processes.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Active Secret Clearance is mandatory.
- High School Diploma with 6 years of experience, or Associate's Degree with 4 years, or Bachelor's Degree with 2 years.
- At least 2+ years of experience in enterprise Linux and/or Windows Server environments, including Windows Active Directory, Group Policy Management, SharePoint, and Exchange services.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP and Microsoft Networking concepts.
- Experience with Windows and Unix/Linux interoperability, including centralized authentication technologies.
- Proficiency in Windows shell scripting and Linux bash scripting is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and connect computing equipment in various positions.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience with virtual machine technologies (ESXi, VCenter, VSphere).
- Knowledge of NetApp management.
- Experience with PXE and WDS automated system installation technologies.
- Familiarity with automated backup systems.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Unix shell scripting.
- Knowledge of configuration management tools (Subversion, ClearCase).
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+ and CISSP are advantageous.
