Job Description

Seeking an experienced IT systems administrator to support classified lab environments that use Linux and Windows networked systems. The role requires expertise in setting up and managing Windows Servers and Workstations, including experience with Microsoft Windows Active Directory, Group Policy Management, and Exchange services.

A successful candidate will be a Windows Server lead supporting internal customers, designing, implementing, and managing lab infrastructure to meet customer requirements.

In this Senior Systems Administrator role, you will:

  • Work with facilities security staff to develop and apply hardening steps for systems used in classified environments, adhering to NISPOM Chapter 8, JAFAN, and other standards.
  • Document system configurations for new and existing systems. Experience with centralized authentication technologies such as LDAP and Active Directory domains supporting cross-platform clients is desirable.
  • Maintain and develop Linux infrastructure technology to ensure 24/7 uptime.
  • Engineer system administration solutions for various projects and operational needs.
  • Follow best practices in managing systems and services across all environments.
  • Perform fault finding, analysis, and logging for performance reporting.
  • Monitor system performance proactively and plan capacity accordingly.
  • Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware.
  • Create and modify scripts or applications to automate tasks.
  • Suggest improvements to enhance stability, security, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop automation strategies and deployment processes.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Active Secret Clearance is mandatory.
  • High School Diploma with 4+ years of experience, or Associate's Degree with 2 years, or Bachelor's Degree with 1+ year of experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in enterprise Linux and/or Windows Server environments, including Windows Active Directory, Group Policy Management, SharePoint, and Exchange services.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and Microsoft Networking concepts.
  • Experience with Windows and Unix/Linux interoperability services, such as centralized authentication technologies.
  • Proficiency in Windows shell scripting and Linux bash scripting is a plus.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience with VM technologies (ESXi, vCenter, vSphere).
  • Knowledge of NetApp management, PXE, WDS, automated system installation, and backup systems.
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Unix shell scripting, and configuration management tools (e.g., Subversion, ClearCase).
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+ and CISSP are advantageous.
