Job summary

Employee Workplace in Lancaster, SC is seeking an IT Systems Administrator to own and maintain core IT infrastructure onsite. You will manage Windows Server, PowerShell automation, Veeam backups, Microsoft 365 and Azure, and virtualization during a VMware-to-Nutanix migration.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar infrastructure role.
• Strong PowerShell scripting skills, including writing, maintaining and troubleshooting scripts.
• Solid Windows Server administration experience, including automated patching and security updates.
• Hands-on Veeam administration and backup troubleshooting.
• Advanced Microsoft 365 and Azure administration experience.
• Virtualization experience with Nutanix, VMware, or both.

Responsibilities

IT Systems Administrator

Lancaster, SC (onsite)
Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible)
$75,000 – $100,000 plus bonus

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced IT Systems Administrator to help support and maintain our client's IT infrastructure. You'll own key parts of the environment, including Windows Server, PowerShell automation, Veeam backups, Microsoft 365 and Azure, and virtualization, while working alongside the Senior Systems Administrator. This is a hands‑on role for someone who likes to automate, solve problems independently and take ownership. It's also a chance to help lead the company's move from VMware to Nutanix.

What You'll Do

PowerShell & Windows Server

• Administer and support the Windows Server environment
• Maintain, improve and troubleshoot the custom PowerShell scripts that run monthly server patching and security updates
• Write new scripts to automate routine administrative tasks

Backup & Recovery

• Own the Veeam backup environment, including monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting
• Run proactive health checks to catch issues before they affect the business
• Investigate and resolve backup failures, and manage the environment independently

Azure & Microsoft 365

• Handle advanced administration of Microsoft 365 and Azure services, including identity, security, Exchange Online and tenant configuration (beyond day-to-day user support)

Virtualization

• Support the virtualization environment during the migration from VMware to Nutanix
• Administer Nutanix hardware and software, building toward ownership of the virtualization platform over time

What You Bring

• 3+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar infrastructure role
• Strong PowerShell scripting skills, including writing, maintaining and troubleshooting scripts
• Solid Windows Server administration experience, including automated patching and security updates
• Hands‑on Veeam administration and backup troubleshooting
• Advanced Microsoft 365 and Azure administration experience
• Virtualization experience with Nutanix, VMware, or both
• Ability to work independently, take ownership and collaborate well with a senior teammate

Nice to Have

• Hands‑on Nutanix administration (AHV, Prism)
• Experience with Quantum backup hardware
• Experience supporting a VMware-to-Nutanix migration
• Certifications such as VMCE (Veeam), NCP (Nutanix) or Microsoft Azure/M365
