Job summary

Qualifications

  • Core knowledge includes Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, Entra and TCP/IP networking.
  • Education: Associate or Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ are a plus.

Position Summary

Wausau Tile is seeking a detail-oriented, dependable, and technically skilled Systems Administrator to support the company’s IT infrastructure across office and manufacturing environments. Reporting to the IT Manager, this position will provide day-to-day technical support, maintain critical business and manufacturing systems, and support the company’s ERP/MRP environment. The Systems Administrator will play an important role in maintaining reliable technology operations and minimizing disruptions to production. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, customer-focused, and capable of troubleshooting issues independently while knowing when to elevate critical matters to the IT Manager.

Key Responsibilities
IT Infrastructure & Technical Support
  • Administer, maintain, and support the company’s IT infrastructure across office and manufacturing environments.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to employees, production staff, and manufacturing operations.
  • Monitor network, servers, workstations, printers, scanners, and other technology used throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues to minimize production downtime.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade computers, peripherals, software, and other IT equipment.
  • Manage user accounts, security permissions, and access to business and manufacturing systems.
ERP/MRP & Manufacturing Systems
  • Support and maintain the company’s ERP/MRP system, including user access, troubleshooting, system issues, and coordination with the IT Manager and ERP vendors.
  • Ensure reliable operation of systems that support production, inventory, purchasing, shipping, receiving, scheduling, and other manufacturing processes.
  • Support manufacturing technology and systems that interface with the ERP environment, including production-floor workstations, barcode scanners, label printers, and related equipment.
  • Assist with ERP enhancements, system upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Respond to system issues affecting production operations and prioritize problems based on their impact to safety, quality, delivery, and production.
System Administration & Security
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security and promptly elevate critical issues to the IT Manager.
  • Assist with cybersecurity measures and employee awareness.
  • Participate in disaster recovery, data backup, and business continuity activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, equipment, procedures, and user access.
  • Maintain IT inventory and track technology assets throughout the organization.
Vendor & Project Support
  • Work with outside vendors and service providers to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and ERP-related issues.
  • Assist with implementation of new technology, system upgrades, ERP enhancements, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Develop and maintain procedures for common IT issues and provide training and guidance to employees when needed.
  • Perform other duties and special projects assigned by the IT Manager.
Specific Tasks
  • Monitor and respond to daily IT support requests from office and manufacturing employees.
  • Troubleshoot issues with computers, printers, scanners, network connectivity, and production-floor technology.
  • Create, modify, and maintain user accounts and system access.
  • Support ERP/MRP users with access, system, and application-related issues.
  • Coordinate with ERP vendors and outside technology providers when additional technical support is required.
  • Perform routine system maintenance, updates, patches, and backups.
  • Maintain accurate records of IT equipment, software, user access, and system configurations.
  • Assist with cybersecurity and system security activities.
  • Identify recurring technology issues and assist the IT Manager with developing long-term solutions.
  • Support technology projects and system implementations as assigned.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Frequent walking throughout office and manufacturing areas.
  • Occasional standing, bending, reaching, and repetitive wrist/hand motions.
  • Ability to work in an active manufacturing environment and respond to technology issues on the production floor.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving of IT equipment and supplies.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate or Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ help candidates stand out.
  • Environment Familiarity: Exposure to manufacturing software, Microsoft Power Automate, Power BI, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software is a plus.
  • Self- motivated, organized, and able to work with minimal supervision.
