About the Agency

The Mississippi Department of Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking qualified candidates to fill the role of a Systems Administration Specialist I.

Under the general supervision of the LAN Team Manager, the Systems Administrator I provides first- and second-level support for the organization's enterprise Windows environment, Microsoft 365/Azure cloud services, and Cisco-based network infrastructure. This is an entry-level role suited to a motivated IT professional who is building foundational, hands-on experience in enterprise systems administration and is eager to grow into progressively more independent technical responsibility.

What you'll need to be Successful

Basic working knowledge of the Windows operating system, Active Directory concepts, and general networking fundamentals.Familiarity with ticketing systems and IT documentation practices.Willingness and aptitude to learn Microsoft 365 and Azure administration, including Intune, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Entra ID.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 2-4+ years of IT experience with emphasis in system administration. Agency preferred qualifications:Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 2+ years of experience in systems administration, network support, or a related IT role (internships and relevant coursework will be considered).Prior exposure to Cisco networking hardware in a wired or wireless environment.Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or an entry-level Microsoft certification.
