WOW! in Knoxville, TN is seeking a System Technician to keep our HFC network strong and customers connected. This hands-on role involves field work, testing, and repairing network equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, troubleshooting/repairing in HFC networks is highly preferred.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical customers.
• Enjoy working outdoors and staying active.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable learning technical skills and using tools.
• Ability to explain things clearly to customers.
• Flexible schedule (evenings, weekends, on-call rotation).
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair HFC (Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial) networks.
• Test and optimize signal performance.
• Maintain key network equipment (nodes, fiber systems, power supplies).
• Perform fiber splicing and activation.
• Handle outages and support emergency restoration.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and system balancing.
• Identify signal leakage and ensure compliance.
• Support network expansion and serviceability.
• Deliver excellent customer service while representing WOW!

What You'll Do

What the Job Is Really Like

• This is not a desk job-and that's the point.
• Working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Climbing ladders, working on poles/roofs, and in tight spaces (attics, crawl spaces)
• Lifting up to 90 lbs. and handling tools/equipment
• Operating company vehicles safely
• Working near electrical equipment and power lines
