Job description

Job Overview

A System Specialist provides world‑class leadership for high‑profile orders and high‑end service support, including installations, startups, commissioning, testing, scheduled and emergency services on Precision Cooling Products.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and accomplish work‑related goals using extensive experience and judgment.
  • Perform a wide range of highly challenging work‑related tasks independently.
  • Lead and direct others without direct supervision.
  • Support start‑up and commissioning activities for assigned projects:
    • Ensure sufficient manpower on site each day to perform start‑up and site testing work.
    • Assist during start‑up and commissioning as necessary, based on manpower availability and site location.
    • Monitor start‑up completion and coordinate with sales representatives and District Managers on additional service quotes or excess labor resulting from delays beyond service control.
    • Provide first‑level technical support to accelerate problem resolution.
    • Provide daily status reports to Service management and sales representatives.
  • Render on‑site and phone assistance to customers and communicate with Technical Support/Engineering on equipment issues.
  • Provide technical support on‑site or by telephone to Customer Engineers (CEs), assist contractors during installation and commissioning, and provide on‑the‑job training (OJT) to CEs.
  • Implement Field Change Notices (FCN) according to published guidelines and keep current on Safety Bulletins, Field Change Notices, and Service Tips.
  • Operate safely in accordance with published safety guidelines, wear appropriate PPE, adhere to the 14‑hour rule, and report all accidents or injuries within 24 hours.
  • Accurately report time cards, expense reports, mileage reports, ticket closures, forms, and other company documents; provide Time and Material quotes, estimate time of arrival to the Customer Response Center (CRC), assist with scheduling, delegate team tasks, and maintain company property.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, provide estimates of arrival time, strive for first‑time fixes, maintain customer satisfaction rates, and attend customer/contractor meetings as required.
  • Maximize productivity by combining service opportunities, complete work efficiently, make technical and commercial decisions under pressure, evaluate site and equipment for billing, maintain productive utilization rates, perform inventory cycle counts, adhere to dress code and safety regulations, understand and comply with startup/escalation processes, lead by example, and maintain internal communications.
Qualifications
  • Required experience:
    • Minimum 10 years relevant industry/commercial experience and leadership experience.

  • Required education:
    • High School Diploma or accredited GED.
    • 1–2 year HVAC diploma or technical school degree.
    • EPA 608 refrigerant license – Level 2 or Universal.
  • Interpersonal skills: professional, leader, reliable, team player.
  • Proficiency with electrical/electronic test equipment and fundamentals; ability to read and interpret electrical line diagrams and blueprints.
  • Technical skills:
    • In‑depth site evaluation (environmental temperature, operating conditions).
    • Independent repair techniques, brazing, and restoration of full operating condition.
    • In‑depth knowledge of Liebert products and ability to lead and train others.
    • Summarize and report all work‑related tasks completed.
    • Project management skills (experience a plus).
  • Strong skill sets:
    • Schedule and coordinate work for associates and subcontractors.
    • Provide technical support via telephone or in person.
    • Instruct on‑the‑job training, delegate work activities based on skill level.
    • Outstanding communication, customer service, troubleshooting, safety procedures, organizational and planning, computer, mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong communication skills:
    • Communicate with all levels within customer organizations.
    • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations; excellent time‑management; capable of working without direct supervision.
Physical and Environmental Demands
  • Stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or components, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; talk, hear, and smell; sit and balance; drive vehicle frequently.
  • Lift up to 50 lb (occasionally 75 lb).
  • Vision: close, distant, color, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment.
  • Hazards: extreme cold (below 32 °F), extreme heat (above 100 °F), moderate to high noise levels requiring shouting, moving machinery (fork‑lifts, tractors), protective equipment required (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirator, mask).
Working Conditions
  • Travel required.
  • Flexible schedules (weekends, evenings, holidays).
  • Valid driver’s license and U.S. passport required.
  • On‑call availability through national paging system.
  • Deployable for emergencies.
  • Minimum age 18.
