Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) NYC Transit seeks a System Safety Specialist Series to monitor industrial hygiene across NYCT locations, perform field audits, respond to incidents, and support program reviews. The role requires operating sampling equipment, preparing technical reports, and regular field work with on-call duties.

The candidate will have a minimum Bachelor's degree in OSH/ IH-related field and at least 3 years of experience; CIH/CSP/ASP are preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (OSH, Public Health, Industrial Hygiene).
Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience.
Certifications: CIH, CSP, ASP preferred.

Responsibilities

Conduct occupational exposure monitoring across NYCT locations, including noise, silica, particulates, and chemical exposures.
Operate and coordinate calibration/maintenance of sampling equipment; manage inventory and lab.
Prepare clear reports for executive leadership with findings and corrective actions.
Review and update IH programs to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with NYCT needs.
Provide technical guidance to operating departments and participate in contract-related activities.
Be on call for safety incidents across five boroughs and Yonkers, including after-hours duties.
