Job summary

Dominion Energy is seeking System Protection Interns for Summer 2027 at our Elizabeth City district office. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience in electric transmission and distribution.

Interns will work closely with System Protection Technicians to develop a foundational understanding of substation electrical equipment, high-voltage diagnostic testing, protective relays, and control circuit troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a 2- or 4-year program in related technical field.
• GPA 2.5 or higher.
• Anticipated graduation Winter 2027 or later.
• Weight limit of 290 pounds applies to equipment.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret electrical design drawings.
• Assist with infrared scans and instrument checkout/repair.
• Participate in high-voltage diagnostic testing and relay testing.
• Support testing of protection systems and control circuits.
• Shadow technicians to learn substation equipment and field operations.
