Job summary

Hostinger is seeking a System Engineer to help build reliable, scalable hosting infrastructure that powers millions of sites worldwide. You’ll work with a team of system, software, and network engineers to design, deploy, and optimize resilient systems that perform under pressure.

You’ll write playbooks, automate repetitive work, and share learnings across the team. The role emphasizes performance, simplicity, and ownership, with opportunities to grow through DevOps practices and cloud tooling.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Linux OS experience.
• Proficiency with Ansible automation.
• Programming or scripting in Python or Go.
• Experience managing and optimizing web servers, databases, and caching systems.
• Familiarity with cloud environments like GCP.
• Solid grasp of networking fundamentals—DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP.
• Experience applying Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools.

Your day-to-day

• Design, develop, and implement new features that make our hosting platform faster, more reliable, and easier to scale.
• Deploy and run infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code and automation, because manual work doesn’t scale, and neither do shortcuts.
• Operate and observe systems through real metrics: availability, latency, performance, capacity, reliability—understanding the “why” behind every graph.
• Refine and tune systems to eliminate bottlenecks, simplify complexity, and improve reliability without adding overhead.
• Improve monitoring and alerting, aiming to catch symptoms before they turn into outages.
• Share knowledge with other engineers—guiding, reviewing, and helping raise the bar for how we build and maintain reliable systems.

Your skills and experience

• Strong Linux OS experience (3+ years).
• Ansible proficiency— you trust automation, and know how to do it right.
• Programming or scripting skills in Python or Go (bonus if both).
• Experience managing and optimizing web servers, databases, and caching systems.
• Familiarity with cloud environments like GCP (or similar).
• Solid grasp of networking fundamentals—DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP.
• Experience applying Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with DevOps practices and open-source contributions.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools beyond GitHub Actions.
• Ability to read and understand Go and PHP code.
• Certifications like RHCSA or RHCE.
