Job summary

ZelTech is seeking a System Engineer to design, implement, secure, and maintain the City of Virginia Beach's enterprise infrastructure. You will ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of systems supporting critical municipal operations and public service delivery.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, collaborative mindset, and a commitment to resilient and secure technology systems, with exposure to cloud adoption and modernization projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or 6+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• 3–5+ years of experience in system engineering, infrastructure administration, or enterprise IT operations.
• Proficiency with Windows and/or Linux server environments, virtualization platforms, and system monitoring tools.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or similar) and hybrid infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise systems, servers, storage, and virtualization environments.
• Manage system performance, capacity planning, and lifecycle management to ensure high availability.
• Configure and support Windows/Linux servers, cloud services, and hybrid infrastructure components.
• Maintain system monitoring, alerting, and performance‑optimization tools.
• Implement and maintain security controls, patching, and hardening standards.
