Job Summary:

The City of Virginia Beach is seeking a knowledgeable and customer‑focused IT Analyst to support the planning, maintenance, and optimization of technology solutions that enable efficient city operations and high‑quality public services. This role provides technical expertise, system support, and analytical insight to ensure city departments can effectively use technology to meet operational and community needs.

Requirements:

• Must be a US citizen.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; OR 4 or more years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• 2–5+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or technical analysis.
• Strong understanding of hardware, software, networking fundamentals, and enterprise applications.
• Experience troubleshooting technical issues and supporting end users.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with IT service management principles and ticketing systems.
• Commitment to customer service and public‑sector values.
• Successful background and drug screening check.

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience working in local government or public‑sector IT environments.
• Knowledge of municipal systems such as ERP platforms, permitting systems, asset management tools, or public safety applications.
• Experience with Microsoft technologies, cloud platforms, virtualization, or cybersecurity tools.
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, ITIL, Microsoft, or similar.
• Experience supporting modernization, cloud migration, or digital transformation initiatives.
