Our client, a premier investment banking and advisory firm with a growing focus on the energy, infrastructure, and renewable power sectors, is seeking a hands‑on System Engineer to join its small, in‑house technology team, reporting directly to their Head of IT Infrastructure. The firm is looking for someone who can operate as a true IT generalist and become a trusted resource across systems, networking, cloud technologies, security, endpoints, and day‑to‑day user support.

The System Engineer will work closely with senior technology leadership and play an important role across the firm's technology environment. This person will gain broad exposure to the infrastructure while supporting both day‑to‑day operations and larger technology initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

• Support and administer infrastructure across servers, networks, endpoints, cloud platforms, and security systems
• Assist with the administration and ongoing management of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Intune
• Support Windows‑based desktop and server environments
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, systems, connectivity, networking, and infrastructure‑related issues
• Assist with networking technologies, firewalls, connectivity, and related infrastructure
• Support cloud‑based technologies and the firm's continued expansion of its cloud environment
• Participate in security‑related initiatives and help maintain a secure and reliable technology environment
• Work closely with third‑party technology partners and service providers
• Assist with infrastructure projects, implementations, upgrades, migrations, and technology improvements
• Troubleshoot technical issues logically and methodically, identifying root causes and implementing practical solutions
• Provide responsive and professional technology support to employees across the organization
• Maintain and improve systems documentation, processes, and procedures
• Take on additional systems, networking, security, cloud, and infrastructure responsibilities as knowledge of the environment grows

Qualifications

• Hands‑on experience within systems administration, systems engineering, infrastructure, IT support, or a similar technical environment
• Broad technical foundation with exposure to Microsoft 365, Intune, Windows, servers, networking, cloud environments, firewalls, endpoint management, and IT security
• Strong troubleshooting skills with a logical and analytical approach to solving technical problems
• Comfortable working across multiple areas of IT rather than specializing exclusively in one technology
• Technically curious with a genuine interest in learning new systems, platforms, and technologies
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical users
• Organized, personable, collaborative, and comfortable working within a lean technology environment
• Ability to balance day‑to‑day support needs with infrastructure projects and longer‑term technology initiatives
