Job description

We’re seeking a well-rounded Systems Engineer with strong expertise in both on-premise and virtualized (VMware vSphere/ESXi) environments.

Remote Roles - Must be currently living in NJ or NY

Contract Duration: 6+Months with possibility of longer term extensions.

Pay Rate: Open on W2 - No C2C, H1B, 1099, TN Visa, F1 - CPT or OPT at this time.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 10+ years of IT experience, including 3-5 years in systems engineering within complex on-prem and cloud infrastructures.
  • Advanced scripting with Python and PowerShell.
  • 3-5 years of VMware vSphere/ESXi (design, configuration, performance tuning, HA/FT/DR).
  • 3-5 years of Windows Server administration, including performance optimization and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on with Fibre Channel, SAN, vSAN, and storage solutions (TrueNAS, Nimble).
  • Experience with Okta (or similar identity tools).
  • AWS and Azure infrastructure deployment, virtualization, and stack management.
  • Strong knowledge of information security best practices.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Datadog).
  • Experience with Terraform, Docker, Ansible.
Key Responsibilities
  • Infrastructure Management (On-Prem): Deploy, administer, and maintain Windows Servers, storage systems (Nimble, TrueNAS, SAN, VSAN), VMware environments, security, patching, backups, and performance tuning.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Deploy, manage, and monitor application stacks in AWS and Azure, including virtualization, storage, and networking.
  • Performance & Optimization: Lead capacity planning, proactive monitoring, performance tuning, and continuous improvement across on-prem, cloud, and storage environments.
  • Automation & Scripting: Automate administration tasks with Python, PowerShell, and REST APIs.
  • Support & Mentorship: Provide Tier III support, mentor support teams, resolve escalated tickets, and participate in the on-call rotation.
  • Software Updates: Test, schedule, and deploy system updates.
  • Process Improvement: Identify, recommend, and implement automation and infrastructure enhancements.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear, up-to-date technical documentation.
  • Project & Vendor Management: Manage or contribute to complex IT projects and collaborate with external vendors.
