Job summary

TRISTAR INC. seeks a System Engineer to lead requirements development, system architecture, interface coordination, and testing across DoD programs. You will contribute to verification, validation, and technical documentation while supporting lifecycle sustainment.

The role requires strong analytical and writing skills, experience with ICDs and interfaces, and the ability to obtain/maintain TS/SCI clearance. Candidates should have DoD experience and a related engineering degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Computer/Mechanical/Software Engineering, or related discipline.
• Seven (7) years of relevant systems engineering, integration, requirements management, or test experience.
• Experience translating operational needs into technical requirements and solutions.
• Experience creating specifications, ICDs, requirements docs, and verification plans.

Responsibilities

• Analyze needs and develop, allocate, validate, and maintain system requirements with traceability.
• Support architectures, baselines, design alternatives, and trade studies.
• Develop and review ICDs and coordinate interfaces across hardware, software, networks, data, and subsystems.
• Support laboratory and field integration and resolve interface and performance issues.
• Define verification methods and assist in test plans, matrices, and reports.
• Participate in SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and production-readiness reviews.
• Identify risks and mitigation actions; track issues and dependencies.
• Evaluate ECPs, deviations, waivers, and design changes for impacts to requirements and sustainment.
• Prepare specifications, technical reports, assessments, briefings, and decision papers.
• Support lifecycle activities including reliability, maintainability, and obsolescence.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled System Engineer (ESY3) to join our dynamic team. This role will focus on systems engineering, requirements development, system architecture, interface coordination, integration and testing, technical reviews, and lifecycle sustainment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience analyzing complex engineering requirements, resolving technical issues, supporting verification and validation activities, and preparing technical documentation and assessments. Responsibilities

• Analyze operational needs and develop, allocate, validate, and maintain system/subsystem requirements and traceability.
• Support system architectures, functional baselines, design alternatives, and technical trade studies.
• Develop and review Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and coordinate hardware, software, network, data, and subsystem interfaces.
• Support laboratory and field integration and resolve interface, performance, and compatibility issues.
• Define verification methods and acceptance criteria and support test plans, procedures, verification matrices, and reports.
• Participate in technical reviews including SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and production-readiness reviews.
• Identify and track technical risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, root causes, and corrective actions.
• Evaluate Engineering Change Proposals, deviations, waivers, and design changes for impacts to requirements, interfaces, test, logistics, cybersecurity, production, and sustainment.
• Prepare specifications, engineering reports, technical assessments, briefings, decision papers, and related documentation.
• Support lifecycle activities involving reliability, maintainability, supportability, obsolescence, fielding, and sustainment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• Seven (7) years of relevant systems engineering, system integration, requirements management, acquisition engineering, test and evaluation, or related experience.
• Experience developing and managing requirements and requirements traceability.
• Experience with system architecture, interfaces, integration, verification, validation, or qualification.
• Ability to translate operational needs into technical requirements and engineering solutions.
• Experience preparing technical products such as specifications, ICDs, requirements documents, engineering reports, verification matrices, and test documentation.
• Experience identifying technical risks and developing mitigation or corrective-action recommendations.
• Strong analytical, technical-writing, briefing, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance TS/SCI

Preferred Requirements

• DoD, Navy, NAVSEA, NSWC Crane, Army product-manager, or comparable acquisition-program experience.
• PdM FITE, force protection, Electronic Warfare, communications, or mission-system experience.
• Familiarity with the DoD acquisition lifecycle and systems-engineering technical reviews.
• Experience with IBM DOORS, Jama, Cameo, SysML, MBSE, or comparable requirements tools.
• Experience evaluating ECPs, deviations, waivers, and configuration changes.
• Experience supporting production, fielding, sustainment, reliability, maintainability, or supportability.
