Job summary

Allegheny Health Network (AHN) seeks an AHN System Chair for the Department of Ophthalmology, based primarily at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. This physician leader will advance a growing program focused on clinical and translational research and outstanding patient care.

The Chair will shape strategy, maintain care standards, oversee research activities, and guide education for trainees, residents, and fellows, with opportunities for national and international collaboration.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree and board-certified in ophthalmology
• Completion of an ACGME-approved Ophthalmology Residency
• Licensed in Pennsylvania prior to employment
• Excellent clinical judgment and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Articulate a clear vision and drive innovation within the ophthalmology program
• Develop and implement strategy for patient care
• Oversee programmatic and operational aspects of the Department of Ophthalmology
• Mentor and develop physician staff and trainees
• Participate in regional, national, and international meetings
• Contribute to research activity including trials and publications
• Develop resident and fellowship training opportunities
