Allegheny Health Network (AHN) seeks an AHN System Chair for the Department of Ophthalmology, based primarily at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. This physician leader will advance a growing program focused on clinical and translational research and outstanding patient care.

The Chair will shape strategy, maintain care standards, oversee research activities, and guide education for trainees, residents, and fellows, with opportunities for national and international collaboration.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree and board-certified in ophthalmology
• Completion of an ACGME-approved Ophthalmology Residency
• Licensed in Pennsylvania prior to employment
• Excellent clinical judgment and communication skills

AHN System Chair, Department of Ophthalmology - Allegheny Health Network primarily located at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, seeks a highly skilled and compassionate physician leader with expertise in Ophthalmology. This position offers a System Chair leadership role in a growing and dynamic Ophthalmology program dedicated to clinical and translational research as well as exceptional patient care.

The Chair will work with other leaders to develop and implement strategy and processes for patient care. The Chair shall also maintain all current and future standards of care, both inpatient and outpatient, as well as the accreditations needed to assure service for the region. The Chair will assume responsibilities for research and development within the division and connect these activities to the larger goals of AHN. The successful candidate will be considered for the role of AHN System Chair, Department of Ophthalmology.

Duties

• Prepare all necessary documentation including, but not limited to orders, consents, charges and medical documentation
• Direct all activities related to maintaining and advancing patient care within the department
• Oversee all programmatic and operational aspects of the Department of Ophthalmology
• Participate in regional, national, and international meetings
• Participate in the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows
• Contribute to research activity within the department, including investigator-initiated trials, cooperative group and industry-sponsored clinical trials, laboratory investigation, and publication of research findings
• Develop the opportunity for resident and fellowship training programs

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
• Board-certified in ophthalmology
• Completion of an ACGME-approved Ophthalmology Residency
• Licensed in the state of Pennsylvania prior to employment
• Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Strong commitment to patient care and education
