Job summary

New York City Department of Social Services (DSS) seeks a System Analyst for a 30-month contract based in Brooklyn, NY. You will design, develop, and document system solutions across mainframe and modern platforms to support eligibility and benefits systems.

The role emphasizes full life-cycle development, technical documentation, and collaboration with managers, senior programmers, and support staff to ensure secure, reliable operations. 35 hours per week, webcasting interviews required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years in writing application software, data analysis, and data access.
• Experience with data structures, manipulation, databases, programming, testing and implementation.
• Exposure to environments including mainframe, mid range, and PCs.
• Lead in the design of program specifications and software solution implementations.

Responsibilities

• Develop system design specifications and detailed system operation designs.
• Prepare technical documentation for solutions meeting system and security requirements.
• Develop specifications for databases, networks, security, storage, and software configurations.
• Create, test, and maintain program systems and documentation.
• Design reports, audit trails/logs, and security mechanisms.
• Provide programming assistance and resolve IT issues as needed.
• Test programs and systems and integrate modules.
