Job summary

DLS Engineering is seeking a System Administrator III (Splunk Admin) to support the Air Force Intranet Control program in Montgomery, Alabama. This position is full-time and on-site.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and managing Splunk infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and security. Ideal applicants will have over 5 years of experience in Splunk administration and hold relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience with Splunk in a RHEL environment.
• Strong familiarity with RHEL administration.
• Strong understanding of network protocols and security frameworks.
• Active Secret Clearance is required.
• IAT II Certification is needed.
• Must have Splunk Enterprise Certification.

Job description

Position overview:

DLS Engineering is seeking a System Administrator III (Splunk Admin) professional for a full-time position in support of the Air Force Intranet Control (AFINC) program at Gunter Annex in Montgomery, Alabama. This is an on-site position.

As part of AFINC, the mission of the 26th Network Operations Squadron (26 NOS) is to provide mission assurance to the warfighter through the operation, management, and defense of the Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN). In the execution of its mission, the 26 NOS maintains network infrastructure, to include routers, switches, proxies, firewalls, servers, workstations, printers, Storage Area Networks (SAN) and test labs, to provide maneuverability and defense of both classified and unclassified networks.

A day in the life:

• Design, deploy, configure, and manage Splunk clustered infrastructure on RHEL, including Splunk indexers, search heads, forwarders, and deployment servers. Administering Splunk Apps to include developing new or extending existing Apps to perform specialized functionality.


• Develop and implement strategies for efficient data ingestion, parsing, and indexing, ensuring availability and optimal performance of Splunk data repositories.


• Consulting with teams to customize searches, reports, dashboards and configure Splunk to meet their requirements.


• Create and maintain documentation detailing architecture components, configurations, monitoring & alerting setup, troubleshooting guides, and checklists.


• Implement and maintain security controls, and data protection measures in line with best practices and DISA STIG requirements.

When I read the below it sounds like me:

• 5+ years of professional experience with Splunk performing systems administration, including installations, configurations, monitoring system performance and availability, upgrades, troubleshooting, and dashboard design in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment (RHEL).


• Strong familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration.


• Strong understanding of network protocols, security frameworks, and compliance standards.


• Active Secret Clearance (required)


• IAT II Certification: CCNA, CCNA, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, or SSCP


• Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin OR Splunk Enterprise Security Certified Admin
