Position Overview

The Systems Administrator III, under direction, serves as a technical lead for systems administration projects or services. Provides technical oversight for the application of and compliance with technical standards. Coordinates the technical activities of a systems administration support team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Server Administration, Operations & Technical Support

• Provides technical guidance and oversight for server administration.
• Sets up and configures large and complex servers.
• Develops complex system logic and configurations.
• Conducts complex server performance analysis and tuning.
• Coordinates routine audits of systems and software.
• Oversees and coordinates the analysis of system logs.
• Coordinates and monitors the problem management process, including backup support.
• Troubleshoots complex network problems.
• Provides Tier III technical support.
• Oversees documentation of server support methods, procedures, and configurations.

Security, Technology & Infrastructure Planning

• Oversees system security activities designed to protect and recover client data.
• Develops disaster recovery plans for complex systems.
• Coordinates evaluations of new technologies.
• Makes technology recommendations based on evaluation results and client needs.
• Creates, evaluates, and approves plans for new technology deployments.
• Oversees and approves system integration testing plans.
• Provides technical oversight for planning large server hardware and software purchases.
• Develops specifications and plans for large and complex server hardware purchases.

Project Management, Coordination & Technical Leadership

• Collaborates with project leaders to develop project work plans and schedules.
• Defines and outlines project phases.
• Identifies personnel and staffing requirements for projects.
• Determines computing equipment and infrastructure requirements.
• Provides technical leadership and oversight throughout technology projects.
• Coordinates technical resources and activities to support successful system implementations.

Qualifications

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
