Position Overview

The Events Coordinator II, under general supervision, provides central coordination of symposia, lectureships, and conferences for the King Ranch Institute for Ranch Management. This position is responsible for planning, marketing, and executing high‑quality events that advance KRIRM’s outreach and educational activities. The Events Coordinator II serves as the primary liaison between the Institute and event clients before, during, and after events, ensuring a successful experience for all participants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Event Coordination & Marketing

Coordinates and markets large events and conferences, including scheduling, receiving/processing space requests, contract negotiation, registrations, and service requirements and deliveries. Engages in event promotion on print, electronic, and social media platforms.

Client Liaison

Provides on‑site customer liaison during events. Coordinates pre‑ and post‑event details and reviews with customers.

Calendar & Logistics Management

Maintains and coordinates the centralized events calendar. Coordinates site safety and security for events.

Policy & Administrative Support

Makes recommendations for policy and procedure implementation related to event planning and delivery.

Qualifications
Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience

Two years of related experience in event planning and marketing, including related supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in a higher education, nonprofit, or agricultural organization. Experience coordinating logistics such as catering, audiovisual equipment, transportation, and lodging. Familiarity with virtual and hybrid event platforms (e.g., Zoom Webinars, Microsoft Teams). Working knowledge of graphic design or marketing tools for event promotion. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to present information clearly and concisely. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel spreadsheet applications. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Physical & Other Requirements

Must be able to move event equipment and materials (up to 40 lbs.). Ability to travel independently to events and off‑site locations as needed. May require occasional travel and work beyond normal office hours, including weekends to support special projects/events. This position is security sensitive. This position will require export‑control authorization prior to starting employment. This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures. All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements.

Additional Information

A federal proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025. Texas A&M University‑Kingsville will not pay this fee. If immigration sponsorship may be required for employment, consult with private immigration counsel, at the individual’s expense, is recommended to determine whether the individual’s current immigration status would make a potential offer of employment from Texas A&M University‑Kingsville subject to this fee. In addition, on January 27, 2026, Texas Governor Abbott issued a moratorium on the filing of any new H-1B petitions unless approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. Accordingly, if sponsorship for employment visa status is required now or in the future, this moratorium may affect the university’s ability to employ the selected final candidate. TAMUK will adhere to applicable regulations regarding visa opportunities.
