Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Systems Administrator II to support XVIII Airborne Corps Mission Training Complexes. You’ll tailor cutting-edge solutions to training requirements and help ensure readiness of our Nation's Army.

The role involves technical leadership, system health monitoring, updates, patches, backups, and configuring network devices for exercises. DoD directives and security policies guide daily operations; Secret clearance is required to start.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in a related field or equivalent combination of education, certifications or training.
  • 5+ years of related experience; Military and MTC experience preferred.
  • Technical skills in systems and networking; knowledge of protocols, operating systems, and security practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to training events and exercises.
  • Monitor and maintain health and performance of systems.
  • Perform updates, patches, and backups; troubleshoot hardware/software issues.
  • Configure and troubleshoot network devices for exercises.
  • Integrate components in an LVC environment; ensure interoperability.
  • Document configurations and changes; produce reports for management.

Systems Administrator II

GDIT is seeking qualified candidates for Mission Training Complex Capabilities Support II (MTCCS II) program. GDIT delivers individual sustainment through collective Mission Command training, Leadership Training / Development, Warfighter Functions (WFF) training, First Person Simulations (Gaming), and constructive simulations supported training from Squad through Echelon Above Brigade (EAB).

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT:
  • May serve as a technical team or task leader.

  • Provides technical support to individual training and small, medium and large collective training events / exercises in accordance with the established MTC training program.

  • Monitor and maintain the health and performance of systems

  • Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues

  • Deploy, configure and troubleshoot network devices (to include cables) for exercises, training events and/or special projects

  • Configure and optimize systems to meet operational requirements

  • Integrate various components and systems in an LVC environment

  • Collaborate with other branches to ensure system compatibility and interoperability

  • Implement and manage security policies and configurations

  • Maintain documentation for system configurations and changes

  • Implement and manage security policies and configurations

  • Provides input to staff involved in writing and updating technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials

  • Prepares reports on analyses, findings, and project progress, and presents results to management and/or customer personnel

  • Serves as a customer interface to resolve problems and ensure requirements are met on a timely basis

  • Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced system administrator

  • Follows DoD Directives and Instructions 8140, 8570-01-M, Army regulations AR 25-2, NIST Special Publications 800-53, 800-39

  • Participates in special projects as required

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • Education: BA/BS in a related field or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training
  • Required Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of related experience; Military and MTC experience preferred
  • Required Technical Skills:
    • Technical expertise in systems and related technologies;
    • Knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, and security practices;
    • Experienced in configuring and maintaining networking hardware/software systems to include routers, switches and firewalls;
    • Understanding of database management systems (DBMS) and experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Required Skills and Abilities:
    • Superb communication skills; strong ability to advise and educate leadership through non-technical terms on systems;
    • Ability to document and report on technical issues and solutions;
    • Ability to resolve complex technical issues
  • Certification: IAT-II baseline certification IAW former DoDD 8570.01-M: Security+ CE
  • Security Clearance: Secret clearance required to start
  • Location: Onsite, Fort Bragg. NC
