Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a System Administrator 1 to join the Security and Electronic Systems (SES) unit. The role supports physical security systems and IT operations, providing Tier 1 helpdesk support for federal, local, and commercial customers.

You will monitor and maintain access control, CCTV, and IT systems, with opportunities to learn Genetec platforms and contribute to system documentation and operational procedures.

Qualifications

  • BS degree with 0+ years of progressive experience or HS Diploma or Equivalent with 6+ years of progressive experience.
  • Experience triaging and resolving system problems; understanding Windows patching and vulnerability remediation.
  • Basic knowledge of large-scale networking, VLANS and routing.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and test Physical Access Control, CCTV, PSIM and other electronic security systems.
  • Support IT systems for endpoint devices; provide Tier 1 helpdesk support.
  • Document troubleshooting steps and manage ticketing system.
  • Stay current with new technology and contribute to SOPs and builds.
  • Perform duties under direct supervision.

We are seeking a System Administrator 1 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business Unit. As part of (SES) Strategic Business Unit you will be part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates and maintains electronic security services inclusive of intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, it systems, perimeter defense and command and control systems for federal, local and commercial customers across high-growth markets.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do: In this role you will be working as part of a team to monitor, maintain, and test Physical Access Control, CCTV, PSIM and other electronic security systems and support implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems in support of the endpoint devices. The position provides Tier 1 helpdesk support.

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide assistance to end users in accessing and using IT systems.
  • Answer Help desk phone calls; triage initial phone calls providing support and determine when escalation is required.
  • Utilize technology-based problem tracking system (i.e., ticketing system) to document helpdesk phone calls; document troubleshooting steps prior to completing ticket and or escalating to next level of support.
  • Monitor Enterprise system status for problems such as network outages and or degraded services; provide initial troubleshoot notify proper Sr. Level administrators when required.
  • Support daily operations to include monitoring and reviewing system logs.
  • Support configuration and management of Windows operating systems and install/load operating system software.
  • Support desktop hardware and operating system set-up, imaging software loading, and antivirus updates.
  • Support application of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to Windows based operating systems (servers and workstations).
  • Support installation, configuration, and maintenance of 3rd party applications.
  • Performs root cause analysis on significant issues at appropriate level of support.
  • Support preventive maintenance actions including system back-ups, error log reviews, database size analysis, and integrity checks.
  • Stay current with technological developments and make recommendations for ways to take advantage of new and emerging technology.
  • Contribute to technical documentation such as standard operating procedures (SOP) and as builds for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Perform all duties under direct supervision.
Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • BS degree and 0+ Years of progressive experience or
  • HS Diploma or Equivalent and 6+ Years of progressive experience
  • Requires some system administrator experience in performing triage on system problems, resolving system problems, analyzing system data to prevent problems, implementing new workstations, and system extensions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Windows patching and vulnerability remediation.
  • Basic knowledge of large-scale networking, VLANS and routing.
  • Requires reliable attendance at customer site during work hours required by customer.
  • Requires the ability to work flexible shifts that include nights, weekends, holidays and on-call as needed.
  • Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.
  • Able to use MS Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Certification Experience in Genetec Access Control System and Genetec VideoManagement System desired.
  • Experience programming/administrating Access Control Systems of any type desired.
  • Experience with installation, troubleshooting, and testing of security electronics equipment desired.
  • Access management to include clearance and user credentials. Routine audits of cardholders, accesses and clearances.
