Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced systems administrator to support the ALMSS system for USAF logistics. The role involves maintaining IBM i OS servers, security monitoring, and DB administration, while coordinating with C# development teams modernizing legacy systems for USAF weapon programs.

The successful candidate will have DoD logistics domain familiarity, Security+ certification, and the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 8 years of prior relevant experience OR Master's degree with 6 years of related experience.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Active DoD secret security clearance required.
• Security+ certification required.
• Familiarity with DLMS schemas used in logistics systems.
• Background with DoD/USAF logistics acronyms.
• Experience with DoD/USAF logistics policies and procedures.
• Experience with ILS-S base supply processes and procedures.
• Experience with USAF spare parts procurement processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide system administration on the ALMSS System.
• Support a team of C# developers modernizing a legacy SCM solution for USAF weapon systems.
• Administer IBM i OS V7R5/S914 servers including end-user support, security monitoring, DB administration, configuration, patching, backup/recovery.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production and development server connectivity issues.
• Analyze server error logs and coordinate with necessary parties for resolution.
• Monitor server activity logs and recommend improvements for performance and availability.
• Ensure AFNET compliance of server security posture and web certificates.
• Maintain platform-related documentation per AFMC requirements.
• Ensure baseline security posture and correct remote-user network interfaces.
• Utilize IBM i S914 HMC for server configuration management.
• Support IBM i, IFS, DB/2, middleware, document control, encryption, reporting, and file-conversion apps.
• Support IBM S914 POWER hardware stack including TS4300 Tape Library and HMCs.
• Participate in CompTIA Continuing Education for Security+ level maintenance.
• Travel to Warner Robins AFB for site work.

Job description

• Provide system administration expertise on the ALMSS System


• Support a team of C# developers modernizing a legacy Supply Chain Management solution supporting USAF weapon systems


• Administer IBM i OS V7R5/S914 development and production servers, including end-user support, security monitoring, database administration, configuration, software enhancements, patch processes, and backup/recovery


• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production and development server connectivity issues


• Analyze server error logs and report potential problems, engaging necessary parties for resolution


• Monitor server activity logs and recommend improvements to server performance and availability


• Monitor server security posture to conform to AFNET requirements


• Maintain platform-related documentation per AFMC requirements


• Ensure production server security posture is current and web interface certificates meet AFNET criteria


• Maintain accurate network policies and remote-user network-interface information


• Utilize IBM i S914 HMC to manage server configuration


• Support IBM i, Integrated File System, DB/2, middleware, document control, barcode, encryption, reporting, email, and file-conversion applications


• Support IBM S914 POWER server architecture, IBM TS4300 Tape Library, and IBM 7063/7042 Hardware Management Consoles


• Participate in the CompTIA Continuing Education program to maintain Security+ skill level


• Travel to the customer site at Warner Robins Air Force Base

Requirements

• Experience with USAF spare parts procurement and acquisition processes and methodologies


• Prior experience with interface partners and external systems that interact with a base supply operation and general knowledge of the types of transactions shared between those systems


• Proven ability to communicate with software developers in technical terms and customers in layman's terms


• Ability to create and deliver oral presentations to customers describing functionality of user interface screens and ad-hoc query capabilities pertaining to logistics


• Proven ability to advise government customers in meetings and working groups where external interface partners request information from the supported logistics system


• Experience with testing logistics software, especially within DoD environments (preferred)


• Experience with USAF Air Logistics Center depot supply ordering, receiving, storage and issues processes and procedures (preferred)


• Familiarity with MILSTRIP formats used in logistics systems (preferred)


• Familiarity with government-audited logistics system inventory process areas (preferred)
