Overview
The Windows System Administrator I will be responsible for administrating day-to-day IT systems to include system availability, backup/restore, configuration changes, maintaining and patching both physical and virtual Windows 2016/2019 servers. The Administrator assists with daily IT operations to include but not limited to service provisioning, customer service, ticket management, troubleshooting and monitoring.
What you will do
- Assess and analyze customer issues via phone or in person. Prioritize and offer solutions to ensure smooth operations and system integrity.
- Provide technical expertise in design activities to ensure all implemented work is tested and signed off by customers, communicated to all customers affected, and carried through to implementation.
Collaborate with vendors on product capabilities and improvements needed to meet customer requirements. - Design and test networks/servers before release so that preventable configuration failures/problems are minimized and delays reduced. Provides documentation. Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis of and solution to problems within scope.
Develop and promote standard operating procedures.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
Maintain operational, configuration, and other documented procedures.
Provide capacity reports and forecasting. - Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, security, and operation of servers within the Health System.
Ensure workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
Monitor and tune the system to achieve optimum performance levels. Install and monitor security auditing software and remediate defects based on customer security policies.
Respond to system alerts and engage in troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
Schedule installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
Provide technical oversight during installations and recovery projects.
Conduct routine hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
- Bachelors Degree, related field of study (i.e. Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science) (Preferred)
Experience
- 1-3 years of relevant experience (i.e. managing window servers from 2016 to current, installing/ configuring/integrating/troubleshooting software; evaluating and resolving computer, system and user problems) (Required)
Skills and Abilities
- The following certifications will be required within 1 year of hire for the Server Admin Team Track: Microsoft Certified - Azure Administrator Associate and one of the following: Vmware VCP, Nutanix Certified Associate, Citrix CCA-AppDS, Current SQL MCP, Microsoft Certified Azure Data Fundamentals, Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate, MySQL Database Developer Oracle Certified Professional
- The following certification is required within 1 year of hire for the Client Experience Team Track: Microsoft 365 Certified - Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
- If required for the role, applicable Epic certifications will need to be achieved within 180 days of hire.
