Role: OpenText System Administrator
Location: Irving, TX, Remote
Duration: Long Term Contract
Job Summary: We seek a skilled OpenText Content Server Admin to manage and support our enterprise content management (ECM) environment. The ideal candidate will implement, administer, maintain, and optimize OpenText solutions and ensure system stability, security, and performance. This role requires deep expertise in OpenText Content Server, Extended ECM, and other OpenText products, along with experience in integrations, troubleshooting, and user support.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation, Administration, and Support of OpenText Content Server and its modules.
Upgrade and maintenance of OpenText Content Server, OTDS & Archive Center.
Implement Records management.
Create Workflows, Forms, LiveReports, and WebReports. Excellent knowledge of OpenText Content Server database schema.
Monitor OpenText Content Server performance, troubleshoot issues, and apply patches, fixes, and security updates.
Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of the OpenText platform.
Automate routine administrative tasks and optimize system processes.
Perform application installation and configuration on agency-owned server hardware, for Development, Test, and Production environments.
Support weekend Production releases/patches and provide a Software Release Management task plan in coordination with the OpenText Application Developer.
Establish design criteria to accommodate legislation, mission, or functional program requirements changes.
Support a smoke testing plan in conjunction with the application developer and quality assurance analysts.
Provide end-user support, including troubleshooting system access issues, document workflows, and permissions.
Assist business users in leveraging OpenText functionalities for document management, collaboration, and business process automation.
Develop and deliver training materials, documentation, and knowledge base articles.
Support the integration of other client/server and web-based systems with OpenText systems.
Develop and maintain custom scripts, workflows, and APIs to extend OpenText functionality.
Work with developers and business teams to configure metadata models, workflows, and access controls.
Conduct feasibility studies from design, implementation, and post-implementation perspectives, for all new project initiatives.
Implement role-based access controls, authentication mechanisms, and security best practices.
Ensure compliance with data governance, retention policies, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct system audits, generate reports, and support internal/external compliance audits.
Work closely with IT teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors to support OpenText initiatives.
Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and new feature implementations.
OpenText System Administrator Job Description Required Qualifications & Skills
Strong experience with OpenText Content Server, Extended ECM, Archive Server, and other OpenText modules.
Hands-on expertise with OpenText Directory Services (OTDS) and authentication mechanisms.
Proficiency in OpenText Web Services (REST, SOAP), OScript, and database management (Oracle, SQL Server).
Knowledge of enterprise IT environments, Windows/Linux servers, and cloud-based OpenText deployments.
Experience with integration tools such as OpenText AppWorks, OpenText API, and third-party connectors.
Understanding of document lifecycle management, records management, and information governance.
Prior experience with enterprise ECM migrations and upgrades.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work with IT teams and business users.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on system reliability and security.
Quickly adapt to the needs of the project and pace of the work.
OpenText certifications (e.g., OpenText Content Server Administrator, OpenText Extended ECM).
Experience with OpenText Cloud or hybrid deployments.
Knowledge of scripting languages (PowerShell, JavaScript, Python, HTML, CSS) for automation.
Education:
Bachelor s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Systems Analysis, Information Systems or a related field.
A Master s Degree in a related field of information technology is preferred. Skills and Experience:
At least eight (8) years of experience in information technology systems analysis and support.
The successful candidate will have at least five (5) years of experience in designing and supporting enterprise-level OpenText implementations using OpenText Content Suite.
Must have three (3) years of computer experience in at least two of the following disciplines: system analysis, system programming, application programming, and equipment analysis.
At least one (1) year of experience developing applications using advanced technologies, including Internet protocols or web-based technology. Technologies include OScript, HTML, CGI applications, PERL or JavaScript, and Java.
At least seven (7) years of experience with Java.
Possess a broad knowledge of data sources, data flow, and system interactions of other enterprise applications (such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft) with the OpenText platform.
Demonstrated ability to develop software release management task plans and operational documentation.
Ability to represent the OpenText platform team in the Change Advisory Board meetings and follow Change, Configuration, and Release Management processes
