Job summary

Gestalt Community Schools has an immediate opening for a Middle School English Teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. Gestalt Community Schools teachers design weekly lessons plans, develop standards-based assessments, analyze assessment data, and create intervention plans to meet our scholars' needs.

In addition, GCS teachers integrate technology effectively in the classrooms, and implement project-based learning.

Qualifications

• Current TN teaching license in English or middle school endorsement.
• Bachelor's degree or higher aligned to subject area certification.
• Proven track record of academic success as evidenced by TVAAS or state assessments.
• Experience with blended learning and project-based instruction.

Responsibilities

• Create lesson plans for a common core-based English curriculum.
• Integrate technology into lessons and plans.
• Motivate scholars toward achievement.
• Meet with parents regarding performance and conduct.
• Develop scholar improvement plans.
• Collaborate with special educators in a co-teaching model for students with IEP/504 plans.
• Work planning with school and network teams.
• Attend weekly professional development training.
• Create and review student assessments.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Hold a current TN teaching license in English and/or have a middle school endorsement
• Have a bacherlor's degree or higher aligned to subject area certification
• Has a proven track record of academic success as evident in TVAAS, state assessments, NWEA and value ad data (preferred)
• Hold the belief that all students can learn at high academic levels
• Uses digital content, technology integration, and project-based learning in a highly efficient manner
• Have the ability to work in an extended day environment
• Has the ability to teach in an inclusion environment with a co-teacher (if applicable)
• Working knowledge of or ability to learn both the Mac and PC platform
• Offers proven track record in the implementation of blended learning (preferred)
• Excellent communication and written skills
• Team Player who is engaged and is confident in their ability to contribute to a dynamic academic team
