Job summary

Macon-Bibb County Government seeks a sworn Code Enforcement Officer to enforce property maintenance codes, building codes, nuisance abatements, and related state laws to protect public health and safety.

The role requires knowledge of enforcement procedures, documentation, case files, and testifying in court; candidates must have a POST certification, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid Georgia driver's license; two years of related study desirable.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Two years of college/technical training in construction-related field desirable.
  • Experience with code enforcement principles and procedures is preferred.
  • Must possess knowledge of related laws, regulations, and enforcement methods.

Responsibilities

  • Enforces property maintenance codes, building codes, and related state/local laws.
  • Investigates complaints and initiates appropriate enforcement actions; maintains case files and documentation.
  • Provides sworn testimony in municipal, state, or superior court as required.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable codes and procedures and coordinates with legal staff as needed.
