Job summary

Henry County Government seeks a Code Enforcement Officer to enforce county codes, investigate complaints, and ensure compliance on properties and businesses. The role includes site visits, issuing notices, and coordinating with property owners.

Qualifications

  • Requires a High School diploma or equivalent with two years of related investigations/inspections experience and training in building trades or code enforcement.
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license is required.
  • Knowledge of local government operations and code enforcement programs.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to complaints of County code violations and investigates possible infractions, including building, zoning, erosion control, and health and safety issues.
  • Determines compliance or non-compliance with codes; meets with property owners; issues notices/citations; collects and preserves evidence; and may testify in court.
  • Maintains records, enters data, and prepares reports; conducts site visits and coordinates with developers, engineers, and contractors as needed.
  • Provides information on code requirements and discusses problem areas; conducts research and performance of follow-up inspections.
