Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. seeks a dedicated dock and yard technician in Sacramento to load and unload trailers, operate switcher tractors, and support yard operations. The role emphasizes safety, paperwork accuracy, and teamwork in a fast-paced service center environment.

You will drive, assist with loading freight, and ensure compliance with OSHA-style guidelines while maintaining clear communication with dispatch and supervisors. OT may apply based on shift needs.

Qualifikationen

• Must be able to read, write, speak English.
• Experience operating a tractor-trailer.
• Experience using handheld computers/scanners.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must pass drug test and alcohol test (if applicable)
• Must be able to stand/walk for long shifts and handle physical tasks.
• Ability to follow instructions via radio or phone.
• Must be able to read bills of lading and navigate yard systems.

Aufgaben

• Assist dock workers with loading/unloading trailers.
• Maintain contact with dispatcher for pickup/delivery instructions.
• Perform daily maintenance checks on switcher unit.
• Fuel the switcher tractor at end of shift.
• Complete all necessary paperwork at end of shift.
• Follow all safety policies, PPE requirements and operating procedures.
• Spend at least 20% of weekly hours loading freight onto trailers.
• Perform dock operations as directed by management.
